I departed from my paradise towards goa. Health backstabs and I actually land up in my Pune flat coughing and burning. At the end of the evening, I feel frail enough not to consume my supper.
But as they say, destiny had some other wishes. After the Goa plan completely collapses down the following day, I feel strong enough to play some gully football for 120 long minutes. I feel alive.
As the satisfying and tiresome evening begins to transform into cool sleepy slumbery nights, someone amidst the group whispers “Chalo kahi chalte hai”. Soon the whispers turn into mighty roars yelling and convincing each other. Needless to say, but soon after I find myself cramped into a local Tata Sumo headed towards one of the most sacred places in Maharashtra…..rather in India. Yes, I was going Shirdi.
Well, the actual journey was more troublesome than the mere thought. My cerebrum screaming to explode out of my skull. An added factor over this being the pot-oholic roads banging the poor vehicle mercilessly along the night journey. I was not prepared for anything more than this. I want to, I really want to, but how, how can I love my India ?
As we reached the called destination, I went inside the shrine, a strange feeling of calmness engulfs me, which I can bet no firangi babu with a scientist-like-accent would ever be able to explain it to me. As I stride along the holy path, a few thoughts start occupying my ache-pissed mind , for which I am basically writing this down.
First things first, a question asked long ago but still awaiting reply. It reads, Why do we offer earthly harvest to the almighty ?
Now, I want to make one thing very clear that I ain’t no atheist. I strongly believe in God and am quite of a spiritual being inside.
But when we are to think deeper, can’t we realize the fact that everything we can offer him, is something which is actually offered to us a long time back. Isn’t it more or less like offering an air-heater-kind-of-appliance to the Sun ?
What difference does it make anyways if you go empty-handed or with overflowing arms ? I mean, what’s the point of sacrificing 11 goats to the Almighty when we ceremoniously believe that everything ( including the goats ) are actually gifted to us by him.
Or is it the amount of moolah you spend to please God ( read the 500 kilo golden crown offered by an unknown devotee ) which matters when you actually face God, face to face ?.
All I want to say can finally be summed up as, “In front of God, aren’t we actually standing naked, where he knows absolutely every single damn thing about us from the very beginning of our life till the utmost end, and we have nothing to offer to him but our remaining amount of pure souls ?”
The amount of purity of our souls which we can offer to our deity, in a straight business with God in exchange of our wishes is supposedly the only possible transaction we can carry out with the SuperBeing, also known as GOD. Let us start accumulating the only currency which is valid in divine matters.
Let me know if I am wrong.
Thanks for reading it till the end.
Have a nice day.
Take care.
